KVCA to Hold Seminar and Preliminary Competition for 'University Venture Investment Competition' Participants
The Korea Venture Capital Association (KVCA) and KAIST’s Center for Entrepreneurship Research announced on the 29th that they will hold a special VC training seminar and preliminary competition for participants in the University Venture Investment Competition Korea (UVICK). The seminar and preliminary competition will take place over four days, October 31-November 1 and November 7-8, at KAIST’s Seoul Hongneung Campus.
UVICK is run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the KVCA as part of the “Youth Venture Capital Talent Development Program,” under the “Venture Capital Advancement Project,” to develop globally minded young professionals in venture capital. This year, eligibility for the competition and seminar has been expanded from graduate students to include undergraduates.
The seminar is a hands-on venture capital talent development program based on the guidelines of VCIC, an international competition held in the United States. A total of 85 participants from 15 teams at seven universities—Korea University, Kookmin University, Pukyong National University, Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, Pohang University of Science and Technology, and KAIST—will take part.
Through three days of training, participants will learn about the practical aspects of venture capital, including ▲the VC industry and the VC work cycle ▲venture investment in the AI era ▲drafting and negotiating term sheets ▲U.S. venture investment systems and laws ▲preparing and presenting investment review reports.
The preliminary competition will be held on November 8, the final day of the seminar. Each team will present an investment review report and take part in a mock investment committee meeting. The six teams selected in the preliminary round will advance to the final, which will be held in January 2027. Based on the final results, one graduate student team will represent Korea at the 2027 VCIC Global Finals, to be held at the University of North Carolina in April 2027.
Korea University, last year’s winner, represented Korea at the 2026 VCIC Global Finals in the United States in April this year. Competing against 12 regional representative teams, including those from Yale School of Management (Yale SOM) and London Business School (LBS), it became the first Korean team to reach the global finals’ top six.

A KVCA official said, “This year, we expanded eligibility to include undergraduates so that more aspiring venture capital professionals could experience the actual VC investment decision-making process. We hope this training and competition will strengthen participants’ practical skills and help them grow into the next generation of venture capitalists equipped to compete on the global stage.”
