SC Engineering Expands Healthcare Business, Led by "Switch On Diet"
SC Engineering is strengthening its competitiveness in the healthcare business with its “Switch On Diet Program,” which combines weight management and nutritional supplementation. By pairing functional ingredients and premium protein products with step-by-step dietary management and personalized counseling, the company is expanding beyond product sales into health management services.
Although growth in South Korea’s health functional food market has slowed since the COVID-19 pandemic, the market has remained around 6 trillion won, supported by demand for health management. According to the Korea Health Supplements Association, the domestic market was estimated at approximately 5.9626 trillion won in 2025, up 0.2% from the previous year. The purchase experience rate stood at 83.6%, the highest level in the past five years.
With market growth limited and the importance of consumer-tailored products and services increasing, SC Engineering is also expanding its healthcare business. Revenue from the healthcare business rose 126.3%, from 4.346 billion won in 2024 to 9.834 billion won in 2025.
The flagship product driving this growth is the Switch On Diet Program. In response to the shift in interest in weight management from simply controlling food intake toward balancing nutrition and managing lifestyle habits, the program combines functional ingredients, a high-protein nutritional formula, and a dietary management plan.
The Switch On Diet Program contains five key functional ingredients, including Garcinia cambogia extract (HCA), which helps reduce body fat, as well as protein, niacin, pantothenic acid, and zinc. It combines U.S.-made whey protein concentrate (WPC), whey protein isolate (WPI), and plant-based isolated soy protein (ISP) to provide 36 grams of animal- and plant-based protein per daily serving. The formula contains 0 grams of sugar and is also fortified with vitamins and minerals.
Dietary management linked to the product is another feature. Customers receive a dedicated guidebook covering permitted foods and dietary principles for each week, as well as exercise, lifestyle habits, and diet-friendly recipes. One-on-one consultations through KakaoTalk and Naver TalkTalk also help users follow the program, including with meal planning and intake schedules.
Consumer interest is also rising. According to analysis based on Naver DataLab, annual searches for “Switch On Diet” rose from approximately 90,000 in 2023 to approximately 1.17 million in 2024 and approximately 2.07 million in 2025. As of October this year, the Switch On Diet Program had received more than 40,000 cumulative post-purchase reviews, while all Switch On products had garnered more than 60,000 reviews in total.
SC Engineering is also expanding its product lineup around the Switch On Diet Program, adding products such as probiotics, combination supplements, and dietary fiber. The company plans to broaden its customer base by offering its value-priced protein shake at Olive Young and developing new meal-replacement products for weight control targeting middle-aged and older consumers.
