The city is also supporting the installation of fire-prevention safety equipment and carrying out remodeling projects to improve energy efficiency in small, aging homes.
Apartment complexes are eligible for maintenance support if 15 years have passed since they underwent a use inspection. The city provided funding to 44 complexes selected through an open call in January to replace aging elevators and shared water supply pipes, and to repair outdoor ancillary and welfare facilities and shared rooftop facilities. Construction has been completed at more than 80% of the selected complexes, with work underway at the rest.
In response to the growing number of aging apartment complexes, the city plans to consider expanding its support budget and easing eligibility requirements. Along with providing subsidies, it will encourage complexes to make regular, adequate contributions to their long-term repair reserves and manage their facilities systematically.
Applications are also being accepted through November 13 for additional support for safety equipment installations at apartment complexes. Eligible projects include installing automatic fire detection and fire extinguishing systems, relocating electric vehicle charging facilities above ground, installing firefighting equipment for electric vehicles, and installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems with fire detection.

It secured about 120 million won in related funding this year and provided support to seven complexes through the first open call in September. It will now offer additional support using the remaining budget of about 45 million won.
Eligible applicants include apartment complexes with at least 20 households under the Housing Act and other relevant laws, as well as apartment complexes built under the Building Act that are subject to mandatory management. Applications will be assessed based on factors including the number of years since the use inspection, the ability to cover the required matching funds, and whether contributions to the long-term repair reserve are adequate. Applications are accepted through Document24. Further information is available on the Goyang City Hall website.
The city has completed construction and subsidy payments for all 14 households selected this year for its "Housing Passive Remodeling Support Program," which aims to improve insulation in small, aging homes.
The program is for detached and multi-family homes that have received use approval at least 15 years ago, as well as apartment complexes with 19 or fewer households. It covers up to 50% of construction costs, to a maximum of 10 million won per building, for work such as replacing windows with high-efficiency models, installing LED lighting, and improving insulation inside and outside buildings.
