Aiming for his second win of the season at the Lexus Masters
On a sharp rise after five straight top-10 finishes
Could clinch the Genesis Grand Prize with a win, depending on rivals' results
Shin Sanghoon is aiming to clinch the top spot in the Genesis Grand Prize points standings early.
He is seeking a win at the Lexus Masters, a KPGA Tour event with a total purse of KRW 1 billion, which begins on October 29 at Club72 Country Club in Incheon (par 71). It is the final event before the season-ending KPGA Tour Championship, which will be held on November 5 at Teddy Valley Golf & Resort in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.

View original imageShin has earned three career wins, including last month's Golfzon Open. With one win this season and 10 top-10 finishes, he is leading the Genesis Grand Prize points standings with 5,255.51 points. He is also second in the money rankings with 650,672,925 won and fourth in scoring average at 69.7903 strokes.
Above all, he has been in outstanding form recently. Starting with his Golfzon Open victory, he has finished in the top 10 in five consecutive tournaments: a tie for eighth at the Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Choi Kyung-ju Invitational, a tie for sixth at the AmazingCre Open, second at The Charity Classic and a tie for fourth at the Genesis Championship.
The race for the Genesis Grand Prize is currently tight. Jeong Chan-min is second with 4,744.77 points, while Jang Yu-bin is third with 4,576.75 points. For Shin to clinch the award this week regardless of the final event's results, he must win this week's tournament and earn 1,000 points, while Jeong must finish fourth or lower and Jang must finish second or lower.
