County meets local lawmakers to request national funding for next year
Jangseong County, part of Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, is focusing its administrative efforts on securing next year’s national government funding during the National Assembly’s budget review to secure new growth drivers and expand safety infrastructure for residents.
Jangseong County said on the 28th that County Governor Kim Hanjong and county officials had visited the National Assembly in person to request increases to next year’s government budget and the inclusion of new funding for major local projects.

He then visited the offices of Assemblyman Ahn Do-geol (Gwangju Dong-gu-Nam-gu B), a former vice minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Assemblyman Kim Nam-kuk in turn, delivering policy proposals for each project and asking for their cooperation.
Jangseong County requested national funding for a total of five key projects, with a combined request of KRW 8.54 billion.
Among the main projects, the county requested KRW 1.5 billion for design services for the “Northern Access Road to Advanced District 3 in the Gwangju R&D Special Zone,” which would serve as a key logistics artery. The road would connect the northern part of Advanced District 3 with National Route 1 and is essential infrastructure that would significantly improve the flow of goods between research and development (R&D) facilities and industrial sites. Governor Kim had also met with Minister of Budget and Planning Park Hong-geun in September to make an early request for national funding for the road.
The county also requested KRW 400 million for a feasibility study for the “Establishment of a National Grass Research Institute,” which would help solidify its position as the country’s largest grass-producing region. Jangseong County emphasized that it is the ideal location for a national research institute that would conduct research on new grass varieties, certify quality, and serve as a control tower for pest and disease management.
It also strongly requested KRW 140 million for “Promoting Cultural Education on Mugunghwa, Our National Flower,” centered on Jangseong Mugunghwa Park; KRW 5.8 billion for the “Establishment of an Integrated Disaster Preparedness Center” to centrally manage snow-removal and flood-control supplies as well as relief goods (total project cost: KRW 6 billion); and KRW 800 million in full national funding for the “Cheongun Overpass Repair Project,” addressing an aging bridge in urgent need of repairs after receiving a C grade in a detailed safety assessment.
