Junior Female Officer Taken from Incheon to Sokcho While Asleep... Senior Officer Under Scrutiny: "Checking the Facts"
Senior Officer Reassigned to Another Substation
Internal Investigation to Begin After Facts Are Established
A female probationary police officer awaiting formal appointment has claimed that after finishing a night shift, she rode in a senior officer’s car and was taken to Sokcho, Gangwon Province, against her will. Police have begun looking into the facts.
According to Yonhap News Agency and Incheon Samsan Police Station on October 28, Officer A, who works at a police substation, reported to her team leader on October 27 that she had experienced this inappropriate conduct by Officer B, a senior officer on the same team.
After finishing a night shift at the substation in September, Officer A rode home in Officer B’s car with another police officer. She claimed that after dropping off the other officer, Officer B drove to the Gapyeong Service Area in Gyeonggi Province while she was asleep, and then continued on to Sokcho despite her saying she wanted to go home. She is also reported to have claimed that Officer B tried to order alcohol at a restaurant in Sokcho.
Police have reassigned Officer B to another substation and plan to question those involved to determine the specific facts.
