As AI semiconductors become more advanced and data centers expand, demand for high-performance materials is growing in a range of fields, including semiconductor packaging, heat dissipation and insulation, and communications infrastructure.
Under the agreement, the two companies plan to combine their respective technologies and business capabilities to identify new business opportunities. Furukawa Electric will develop new products for semiconductors and data centers, while SK ecoplant materials will evaluate the materials and work to expand their use in the domestic market.
To this end, the two companies plan to form a joint working group and hold regular technical exchanges and business discussions. They will also explore potential applications for a range of high-performance materials, taking market conditions and customer demand into account.
"As the AI and semiconductor industries grow rapidly, materials are becoming more than just supplies; they are a key element in supporting customers' technological innovation and product competitiveness," said Song Changrok, president of SK ecoplant materials. "Starting with this agreement, we will work closely together to proactively address customer needs and develop a cooperation model that delivers tangible business results."
