S&SYS Opens Singapore Subsidiary, Ramps Up Local MRO Services
S&SYS, a specialist in integrated shipbuilding equipment solutions, said on October 28 that it had held an opening ceremony for its Singapore subsidiary and would expand its global maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, focusing on Southeast Asia.
After announcing plans to establish a Singapore subsidiary in May, S&SYS began local operations in June. With the opening, it is launching a local service system covering after-sales service, parts supply, technical support and sales.
The Singapore subsidiary is part of the company’s strategy to expand its global service network, following the opening of a liaison office in 2021 and the establishment of a logistics hub in 2024. It will transition from a focus on sales and logistics to a local subsidiary that directly handles after-sales service, parts supply and technical support, expanding its service coverage and local business capabilities.
Singapore is a leading Asian shipping and logistics hub, home to many global shipping companies and ship management firms. The company plans to leverage this locational advantage to strengthen its proactive sales efforts with global ship management firms and shipowners, and to respond promptly to after-sales service needs in Southeast Asia.
It will also improve customer access by establishing a 365-day, year-round after-sales service and timely parts supply system. It will further strengthen its in-house service capabilities by training local engineers and expanding its network of service partners.
S&SYS’s MRO business is structured to grow on the basis of equipment previously supplied through its newbuild shipbuilding equipment business. The company expects demand in the aftermarket to expand as the number of vessels supplied with its Power Solutions, Eco Solutions and Navigation Control Solutions continues to grow. This demand includes after-sales service, parts replacement, replacement of aging equipment, performance upgrades and retrofits. The Singapore subsidiary will serve as a strategic hub for expanding the MRO and retrofit markets in Southeast Asia.

An S&SYS official said, “With the opening of our Singapore subsidiary, we have established a local service system that enables us to respond more quickly at sites where vessels are operating.” The official added, “By linking it with our global service network, including Shanghai, we will expand our business to cover not only after-sales service and parts supply but also retrofit demand. We will strengthen our business structure so that we can generate recurring revenue throughout a vessel’s life cycle after supplying it as a newbuild.”
