Two Men Charged in 'Terror Plot at British Air Base'... Iran Suspected Behind It
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said on Tuesday (27) that two British men had been charged under the National Security Act in connection with a suspected plot to carry out a terrorist attack at RAF Fairford.
According to major foreign media outlets, Mohmed Ahmad Abdulkarim, 24, is accused of engaging in conduct between Aug. 31 and Sept. 28 that could materially assist a foreign intelligence service. Nouman Esgair, 24, is accused of entering a prohibited site on Aug. 22 for a purpose prejudicial to the United Kingdom. Esgair was arrested outside the base on Sept. 27 and released on bail, but was arrested again on Oct. 20. Six other men aged 23 to 25 who were arrested in connection with the case have also been released on bail.

RAF Fairford is a base used by U.S. bombers conducting military operations against Iran. The United Kingdom believes Iran was behind the incident. In a statement, Laurence Taylor, head of the Counter Terrorism Policing network, said, "In recent months, we have seen a number of incidents that appear to have been directed by Iran." He added, "As the director general of MI5 has previously said, we are working together to identify and respond to these threats."
