The award recognized the results of joint operations, including coordinated crackdowns on the ground, arrests of suspects, and their repatriation to South Korea. Each year, the IACP presents awards to law enforcement agencies around the world that demonstrate exemplary policing and contribute to the development of international law enforcement.
In October 2025, the Korean National Police Agency led the launch of the International Cooperation Consultative Alliance (IICA), with Interpol, ASEANAPOL, and nine countries participating, to combat transnational scam compounds. Within a year of its launch, the alliance expanded to include law enforcement agencies from 52 countries and four international organizations. Through the alliance, police are conducting joint operations to track down and arrest suspects in transnational crimes, rescue victims from crime compounds, and recover criminal proceeds.
To combat scam crimes operating from hubs in Southeast Asia, the agency signed a law enforcement cooperation agreement with Cambodian authorities and opened a dedicated "Korea Task Force." Working with local authorities, it also repatriated 137 Cambodian fugitives to South Korea in two group operations.
In Kazakhstan, police worked with local authorities to arrest 14 South Korean members of scam organizations and bring them to South Korea. Including five members arrested in South Korea, the total number of arrests was 19. In cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), police also arrested and repatriated the ringleader and key members of a large illegal online gambling operation who had fled overseas.

Kim Dong-kwon, director of the International Policing Cooperation Bureau, said, "Because transnational crimes cross borders, close cooperation with international organizations and law enforcement agencies in each country is more important than anything else." He added, "We will protect the lives and property of the public through practical joint responses, including tracking down and arresting criminals, protecting victims, and recovering criminal proceeds."
