Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences to Discuss Radiopharmaceutical Self-Sufficiency and Next-Generation Treatment Strategies
October 30-31 at Nurimaru APEC House
The Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences is working to strengthen South Korea's self-sufficiency in radiopharmaceuticals and expand collaboration among industry, academia, research institutes, and hospitals to develop next-generation therapies and advance their clinical application.
The Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences (President Jung Seung-pil), together with Pusan National University and SNvia, will host the 5th Radiopharmaceuticals and Healthcare Symposium from October 30 to 31 at Nurimaru APEC House in Haeundae, Busan.
Held under the theme “Building Self-Sufficiency in Radiopharmaceuticals in South Korea and Strategies for Next-Generation Therapeutic Radionuclides,” the symposium will discuss radiopharmaceutical development, securing a stable supply of therapeutic radionuclides, and ways to collaborate across research, manufacturing, and clinical practice.
Key topics include next-generation therapeutic radionuclides, radiopharmaceutical antibody therapeutics, and precision targeted radiation therapy. Experts from industry, academia, research institutes, and hospitals will share key issues spanning radionuclide supply, drug development, quality control, clinical application, and regulatory approval and review, and explore ways to ensure research outcomes reach real-world medical practice.
In 2024, the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences completed a manufacturing facility for radiopharmaceuticals that meets Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. It now conducts diagnosis and treatment using radiopharmaceuticals produced at the facility. Building on this manufacturing and clinical infrastructure, the institute is expanding collaboration with research institutes and companies and also serves as a bridge to advance the clinical application of research outcomes.
