As part of the Junior College Innovation Support Project, Baewha Women's University returned its educational resources to the local community and strengthened students' practical skills. It also engaged actively with the community, centering its activities at Chebu Hall (an exhibition and play space) and Geumojae (a space for refreshment experiences) at the Seoul Living Culture Center.
At "Sharing Refreshments for Celebrations," a Korean refreshment experience program held at Geumojae, "Daul," an entrepreneurship club in Baewha Women's University's Department of Culinary Arts, played an active role.
Drawing on K-dessert recipes they had researched and developed themselves, Daul students shared refreshments with local residents at the venue and exchanged feedback. By gathering residents' opinions, they improved the club's overall quality and created an opportunity to demonstrate the results of their academic training in a real-world setting.
At Chebu Hall, works by second- and fourth-year students in the Department of Hanbok Culture and Content drew visitors' attention. The students submitted works inspired by "Jeonghae Jinchando Byeongpung," a folding screen depicting "Jeonghae Jinchan," a royal banquet held in 1887 to celebrate Queen Sinjeong's 80th birthday.
The fourth-year students meticulously researched and recreated the royal court attire of the period, while the second-year students presented garments that reinterpreted it in a contemporary way, offering a refined clothing culture that connected the past, present, and future of traditional hanbok.
In addition, "royal pouches," carefully handcrafted by adult learners and first-year students in the Department of Hanbok Culture and Content, were used as props in royal feast games involving local residents, adding to the sense of authenticity.
The event created a vivid experiential space where traditional crafts made as part of the curriculum became part of everyday play culture, setting an example of local institutions and universities joining hands to make traditional culture more accessible.
