ASEIC Expands Carbon Market Cooperation with Vietnam
Cooperation in Waste Heat Recovery, ESS, Solar Power, and Medical Waste Treatment
The ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC) said on October 27 that it held the opening ceremony of the 2026 Korea-Vietnam Eco-Innovation Partnership Week on October 26, attended by officials from the Department of Climate Change (DCC) at Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
The program is part of ASEIC’s “Eco-Innovation Consulting and Capacity Building for Vietnamese SMEs” project. It was designed to strengthen Vietnam’s capacity to implement its carbon market system and expand cooperation between the two countries by sharing Korea’s policy and technological experience.
At the opening ceremony, the DCC and ASEIC exchanged a letter of intent (LOI), and four Korean green technology companies signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Vietnamese companies.

ASEIC expects the agreements to expand opportunities for technology exchange and cooperation between companies in the two countries across various fields, including improving energy efficiency, using renewable energy, and managing waste.
During their visit to Korea, Vietnamese officials plan to visit domestic institutions, including the Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Research Center of Korea (GIR) and the Korea Environment Corporation, to learn about Korea’s greenhouse gas management system and experience operating related policies and systems. They will also explore policy implications for implementing Vietnam’s carbon market system and ways for the two countries to cooperate.
