Boston Dynamics Seeks Talent for 'Atlas Field Deployment'
Hiring spans mass production, fault diagnosis, and operations software
New CEO Prasad Rohit is an expert in commercializing AI products
Hyundai Motor Group also reorganizes its robotics business organization
Boston Dynamics is seeking talent to prepare its humanoid robot Atlas for deployment in industrial settings. Its hiring is expanding beyond the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to areas including customer deployment strategies, hardware production validation, fault diagnosis, and on-site operations software.
Recent job postings from Boston Dynamics show that demand for Atlas-related personnel spans customer applications and product planning, hardware design, production and quality validation, AI training, and operational reliability. Notably, the company is looking for a product manager to define automation challenges for logistics customers and hardware designers who will consider mass production and maintenance.

View original imageThe “Senior Product Manager - Atlas Logistics Robotics” will assess the workflows and pain points of large-scale logistics customers and develop product strategies for automation solutions. The role involves working directly with customers to understand their actual work environments and deployment criteria, and leading the development of integrated solutions that combine hardware, AI models, and software. Rather than focusing solely on improving the robot’s technical performance, the manager will design products and services that can be applied to customers’ operations.
In the hardware field, the company is seeking a senior engineer to design Atlas’s overall architecture and integrate its drive systems, power systems, sensors, and computing systems. The job posting calls for designs that consider not only prototyping and validation but also manufacturing and assembly efficiency, ease of maintenance, and production scale-up. An engineering manager responsible for key electrical systems, including actuators, will coordinate with manufacturers, suppliers, and logistics teams. The hiring appears aimed at developing Atlas into a product ready for deployment in real-world settings while establishing the foundation needed for repeat production and maintenance.
Boston Dynamics is also hiring to ensure operational reliability after robots are deployed. The “Atlas Controls Reliability Senior Data Engineer” will analyze telemetry data and diagnostic information generated by the robots to identify the causes of failures, and will help replace manual inspections with an automated condition-monitoring system. The posting focuses on establishing failure analysis and diagnostic systems as the scale of Atlas robot operations expands.
The company is also seeking software personnel to help users apply the robots to real-world tasks. Their responsibilities include improving the robot’s task execution system based on use cases from customers and internal stakeholders. Boston Dynamics appears to be expanding its hiring to support Atlas’s deployment in the field.
This move also aligns with the background of newly appointed CEO Rohit Prasad, who took the position on October 7. At Amazon, Prasad led the Alexa voice assistant and artificial general intelligence (AGI) organizations and also took part in developing generative AI models. Given his experience turning AI technology into real products and commercializing them, his appointment is consistent with Boston Dynamics’ focus on applying the combination of robotics and AI in industrial settings.

Hyundai Motor Group is also building out the organization and production infrastructure to support its robotics business. In September, Boston Dynamics opened the Robotics Meta-Plant Application Center (RMAC) at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia, United States. Atlas is training there to arrange automotive parts in assembly sequence and handle materials. Hyundai Motor Group plans to deploy Atlas for parts sequencing at HMGMA in 2028 and expand its use to parts assembly starting in 2030.
