Attendees included Jung Sangho, secretary-general of the KRX National Happiness Foundation; Hwang Sungil, director of social welfare at Busan City Hall; and Seo Bokyung, chair of the Busan Association of Home Care Services for Older Adults.
Since 2018, the Korea Exchange has carried out a customized home safety improvement project focused on preventing accidents such as falls and fires in the homes of older adults living alone who are at high risk and spend extended periods indoors due to disabilities or illness. It repairs homes based on the results of household-by-household safety assessments conducted by experts and also provides safety equipment, including grab bars and anti-slip mats.
To date, the exchange has completed home repairs for a total of 116 households and provided 6,239 home safety items.
