Woosung Materials Signs KRW 8 Billion Initial Supply Deal for Pyrolysis Oil Generators; Fuel Savings Expected
Woosung Materials is expanding its new growth drivers after signing its first supply contract in the eco-friendly, high-efficiency continuous generator business.
Woosung Materials announced on October 26 that it had signed an initial supply contract for 10 eco-friendly, high-efficiency continuous generators worth a total of KRW 8 billion. The company plans to deliver the entire contracted quantity through five specialized dealers by the end of this year and complete on-site installation and commissioning.
The generators are designed to recover waste heat produced during electricity generation and simultaneously produce high-temperature hot water at 60-70°C and thermal energy. They incorporate patented technology for a "Noise-Reducing, Mobile Continuous Generator Equipped with a Hot Water System."
The company says the generators can supply both electricity and heat, making them suitable for facilities that require heating and temperature control, including smart farms, greenhouse horticulture operations, and large-scale glass greenhouses, as well as manufacturing sites that need industrial cleaning or process heat. A key feature is that they can improve energy efficiency while reducing the need to operate a separate boiler.
The generators are also designed to use pyrolysis oil as their primary fuel, which is expected to reduce fuel costs. Industry sources say that pyrolysis oil for generators is about 15-30% cheaper than conventional diesel. The company expects this to help reduce operating costs for farms and businesses that use heat and electricity continuously.
The company has also enhanced the generators' reliability during continuous operation. A four-array parallel continuous-operation control system reduces noise and mechanical load while enabling a stable power supply around the clock. Their modular design, which allows components to be separated and reconnected, also improves ease of installation and operation and maintenance (O&M).
This contract marks the first official achievement for Woosung Materials' engine-generator business, which it has pursued as a new growth driver. The company has established strategic partnerships with specialized dealers and partner companies that have regional sales networks and technical support capabilities, building a nationwide distribution and after-sales service (A/S) network.
Starting with this initial supply, Woosung Materials plans to step up its efforts to enter the next-generation distributed energy and combined heat and power markets. According to a market report, the global diesel generator market is projected to grow to $38.09 billion (approximately KRW 50.4083 trillion) by 2034.
