Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Links Ports, Airports and Railways... and Seizes the 'Future' at Sea
Promoting Investment Conditions at Maritime Mobility and Safety Expo
Introducing Industrial Districts, Logistics Infrastructure and Corporate Support Programs
Leveraging a logistics network connecting ports, airports and railways, the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority is seeking to attract companies in the maritime industry.
As the maritime industry shifts its focus to autonomous operations, unmanned mobility and eco-friendly technologies, the Free Economic Zone is exploring new projects. It aims to meet with companies in future maritime mobility and safety, assess their investment needs, and find opportunities to turn those needs into actual investments and relocations.
The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, headed by Park Seong-ho, will operate a promotional booth at the 2026 Korea Maritime Mobility and Safety Expo, taking place from October 26 to 28 at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center (BPEX). It will introduce the zone's industrial districts, location advantages and corporate support programs, and consult with companies considering investment or relocation.
Now in its ninth year, the expo will bring together around 40 companies. Products and services showcasing technological changes in the maritime industry will be on display, including smart autonomous operations, unmanned mobility, eco-friendly mobility and carbon neutrality, advanced maritime safety, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based disaster response.
The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority will highlight the Tri-Port logistics system connecting ports, airports and railways as a key strength. It will also share information on industrial districts and supporting transportation infrastructure, including road networks, using promotional materials and videos in Korean and English.
The authority will also assess companies' areas of investment interest and demand for relocation at the exhibition. Rather than limiting its efforts to promotion, it aims to identify promising maritime companies and follow up with consultations and collaboration.
Administrator Park Seong-ho sees the expo as an opportunity to meet directly with companies in the maritime industry. "We will work to showcase the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone's logistics infrastructure and investment conditions, and help turn companies' interest into actual investment," he said.
