The Ministry of Science and ICT said on October 26 that it is holding a contest through November 6 to invite the public to propose a policy brand name and slogan for "AI for All."

"AI for All" is a project to make services based on Korean AI models easy and affordable for everyone to use. On August 28, the ministry selected three consortia led by SK Telecom, Kakao and KT to run the project. It is preparing for an official launch by the end of the year, including by operating a beta service for people involved in the services.

The contest aims to raise awareness of the purpose of the "AI for All" project by having the public propose a brand name, and to encourage public interest and participation ahead of the launch.

Entries may include a policy brand name that is easy for the public to understand and say, and a slogan that conveys the project's purpose and expected benefits. Any Korean national may submit a policy brand name of up to five characters and a slogan of up to 20 characters, along with an explanation of up to 300 characters describing their meaning and the intent behind the concept, using the online submission form.

Entries will be evaluated and reviewed based on policy relevance, usability and scalability, originality, and clarity and completeness. The winners are scheduled to be announced on November 16.

The prizes include one grand prize of 2 million won and six excellence awards, for a total prize pool of 5.5 million won. Separately, 10 valid entrants who do not win an award will be selected by lottery to receive gift certificates worth 50,000 won each. The selected brand name and slogan are planned to be used in the "AI for All" service interface and external promotional materials, following discussions with participating companies.

Uhm Yeol, head of the Ministry of Science and ICT's AI Policy Office, said, "Public interest and participation are more important than anything else to the success of AI for All. We will actively incorporate the public's suggestions and needs as we prepare and operate the service, and work with the public to create a convenient, high-quality service."
