SKAI Raises Stake in Synthetic Data Firm to 66.9%, Strengthening Physical AI Data Business
SKAI Worldwide is strengthening its control over SKAI Intelligence, a physical AI synthetic data company. Its strategy is to boost its competitiveness in the physical AI data business by combining its synthetic data technology—which has made it a key contributor to consecutive physical AI white papers by global industrial robotics company ABB Robotics and NVIDIA—with graph database and AI agent technologies.
SKAI Worldwide said on October 26 that it would acquire 6,500 shares of SKAI Intelligence for KRW 25.35 billion. Once the transaction is completed, SKAI Worldwide's stake in SKAI Intelligence will increase from approximately 42% to 66.92%. The acquisition is scheduled to be completed on January 28, 2027.
A substantial portion of the acquisition price will be paid not in cash but in perpetual convertible bonds. Of the total acquisition price of KRW 25.35 billion, KRW 22.815 billion, or 90%, will be paid in perpetual convertible bonds with a 30-year maturity. The cash payment has been minimized to KRW 2.535 billion, payable as the remaining balance in January next year. Details of the bond issuance terms are available in the company's disclosure.
SKAI Worldwide is a full-stack AI data company that developed AgensSQL and AgensGraph, as well as Ontovia, a hybrid AI agent, based on Korea's first commercial graph database core technology. It provides everything from data storage to AI agents in an on-premises environment.
SKAI Intelligence is a physical AI data infrastructure company that produces industrial synthetic data for robot training using digital twins built on NVIDIA Omniverse. It is also an official independent software vendor (ISV) partner of NVIDIA.
Through the increased stake, the two companies plan to strengthen their technological collaboration across data generation, connectivity, and utilization. Under this arrangement, SKAI Intelligence will generate synthetic data, while SKAI Worldwide will store, connect, and utilize it through its graph database and AI agents.
SKAI Intelligence's technological capabilities have also been recognized through global collaboration. The company has been a key contributor to two consecutive physical AI white papers published by ABB Robotics and NVIDIA.
For the first white paper, “Industrial Physical AI for High-Precision Manufacturing,” published in July 2026, the company provided digital twin and synthetic data technologies. It also contributed to the second white paper, “Building Talent for Industrial Physical AI,” released on October 20, alongside Amazon Web Services (AWS), Deloitte, and AsiaInfo, among others. The paper quoted a global chief technology officer (CTO). SKAI Intelligence is the only Korean company among the four key contributors to the second white paper.
Expectations are also growing for expansion in the physical AI market. In its 2027 budget proposal, the government increased the budget for physical AI-related programs to KRW 3.1 trillion, up from KRW 900 billion this year, and separately allocated KRW 144 billion for training centers, data factories, and data libraries to produce data for robot training.
Shin Jaehyeok, CEO of SKAI Worldwide, said, “We decided to increase our stake because we are confident in SKAI Intelligence's synthetic data capabilities, which global companies recognized first. As this is a related-party transaction, we completed an external valuation and followed the board approval process.”
He added, “Data is the new oil, and in the era of physical AI, the crude oil is the data that robots learn from. We will combine SKAI Intelligence's synthetic data capabilities with the technologies of both companies to complete our full-stack data competitiveness.”
