The Excellent Laboratory Safety Management certification program evaluates labs with strong safety management systems and practices and grants certification through the Ministry of Science and ICT. The evaluation comprehensively assesses safety management systems, the level of safety activities, and researchers' awareness of safety.
To prepare for certification, Hanwha Qcells systematically managed the entire process, from reviewing its safety and environmental management framework and building the system to implementing it on-site and raising researchers' safety awareness. In particular, it strengthened communication among safety managers, lab supervisors, and research personnel to ensure the safety management system could be applied in actual research settings. As a result, all three labs that participated in the certification process for the first time this year received certification.
The certified labs conduct key research to enable mass production of perovskite tandem solar cells, a next-generation, high-efficiency solar cell.
The Process Development Lab verifies the efficiency and reliability of tandem solar cells and develops processes for commercializing them. The Materials Development Lab develops and verifies new materials to secure materials suitable for mass production. The Analysis Lab uses advanced analytical equipment to precisely analyze the properties of materials and devices, identify the causes of process issues, and support product development.
