Daewoong Pharmaceutical's Fexuclue 7-Day Eradication Therapy Shows No Significant Difference from Existing 14-Day Regimen
Poster Presentation at Domestic and International Academic Conferences
A 7-day triple therapy based on Daewoong Pharmaceutical's gastroesophageal reflux disease treatment Fexuclue (active ingredient: fexuprazan hydrochloride) showed an eradication rate in Helicobacter pylori treatment that was not statistically significantly different from that of the existing 14-day proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based triple therapy.

View original imageAccording to Daewoong Pharmaceutical on October 23, an analysis by a research team led by Professor Park Sungcheol of the Division of Gastroenterology at Kangwon National University Hospital found eradication rates of 83.78% in the 7-day Fexuclue-based treatment group and 88.89% in the 14-day PPI-based treatment group. The difference between the groups was not statistically significant (p=0.737). The same trend was observed in the overall analysis group, which included patients who did not complete treatment, with eradication rates of 80.00% and 82.05%, respectively (p=1.000).
The researchers randomly divided 79 Korean patients with no prior experience of eradication treatment into two groups to compare the efficacy and safety of the two regimens. Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment combines antibiotics with drugs that suppress gastric acid secretion. Factors known to affect eradication efficacy include patients' medication adherence, antibiotic resistance, and the strength of acid suppression.
The study results were presented as posters at domestic and international academic conferences, including HUG 2025, JSHR 2025, and EHMSG 2025. The paper was published in the international journal Medicine in September.

Park Hyungchul, head of Daewoong Pharmaceutical's ETC Marketing Division, said, "The findings are significant because they confirm new clinical evidence for a 7-day Fexuclue-based regimen." He added, "We will continue to build evidence for Fexuclue through various clinical studies and broaden its prescribing base by expanding its indications."
