Seongdong-gu said it held a mural-painting volunteer event with SM on October 17 at Haengeung Municipal Daycare Center in Haengdang 2-dong. Around 30 SM employees and their family members took part in the painting, giving the faded exterior walls of the daycare center a fresh look.

The mural project is a public-private ESG (environmental, social and governance) community service initiative through which Seongdong-gu and local businesses work together to improve aging living environments. SM forms an employee volunteer group each year and carries out the activities with the district.

Since the project began in 2023, the two sides have painted murals at different locations each year. In 2023 and 2024, they refurbished aging walls along an alley by Seongil Children's Park in Seongsu-dong. Last year, they renovated the aging walls of Geumbong Daycare Center near Daehyeonsan Rose Garden.

Seongdong-gu also runs various community service projects with local businesses. It created a safe pedestrian path in the Seongsu Station cafe district with Soso Doshi and the T-money Welfare Foundation, and installed covers on utility poles to prevent illegal advertising with CLIO. With Marang Candle, it carried out a career support program for out-of-school youth.

Mayor Yoo Bohwa said, "The continued interest and participation of local businesses are a great help in improving residents' living environments. We will continue our cooperation and support so that businesses and the local community can grow together and thrive."
