I'Park Mall in Yongsan, where the event will be held, is a large complex cultural space combining shopping and cultural facilities. It attracts visitors of various ages, including foreign tourists.
By holding tourism promotion events at major commercial venues in the Seoul metropolitan area, the county plans to raise awareness of local tourism content among not only existing tourists but also potential visitors who have never been to Hamyang.
The pop-up store will display a variety of items featuring the "Maru&Ola" characters, including keychains and stationery.
It will also offer hands-on exhibits and on-site events in which visitors can participate, with character merchandise to be given to some participants.
The county plans to promote the event through character merchandise and hands-on activities to encourage visitors to take an interest in Hamyang's tourism content.
"Maru&Ola" are tourism characters created to reflect Hamyang's local identity. They recently received a special award in the local content category at the 12th Korea Toy Awards.
Hamyang County plans to expand tourism promotion activities featuring the characters, including this pop-up store, and pursue ways to promote "OreuGO Hamyang" in connection with local tourism resources.
Hamyang County Governor Jin Byeongyeong said, "Through this pop-up store, we plan to introduce the 'Maru&Ola' characters and Hamyang's tourism resources to visitors from the Seoul metropolitan area. We will continue promoting tourism in Hamyang by making use of tourism content that reflects the area's unique character."
