Letters of Thanks Posted All Over Apgujeong Station... A Closer Look Reveals Who Wrote Them
Written in the name of the Apgujeong Station manager
Thanks to the hotel and others that opened their restrooms
The station manager of Apgujeong Station on Seoul Subway Line 3 has drawn attention after it emerged that he had put up a letter of thanks to a nearby hotel and department store for opening their restrooms during renovations to the station restrooms.
On October 22, a post appeared on the social media platform Threads saying, "I was curious when I saw A4 sheets of paper posted all along the way at Apgujeong Station, so I stopped to read them. I didn't expect the message to be so touching." The post included photos of letters posted in various spots on the station walls. The photos showed a letter dated October 16 and written in the name of the station manager of Apgujeong Station, operated by Seoul Metro.
In the letter, the station manager wrote, "We had to close the restrooms for two weeks while renovating the station facilities, which we feared would cause considerable inconvenience to passengers. Thanks to the gracious cooperation of Andaz Hotel and Hyundai Department Store, however, we were able to complete the work safely throughout the construction period without major disruption." The manager added, "We know it must have been a hassle to suddenly see so many unfamiliar visitors, and we are deeply grateful to the hotel and department store staff for always welcoming them so kindly. The active cooperation and open-mindedness you showed during our discussions gave us tremendous support."
He also expressed special thanks to the cleaning staff. "The number of visitors increased far beyond usual, and your workload must have grown considerably. Thanks to your consistent, dedicated efforts to keep the facilities clean, our staff and the public were able to use them without inconvenience," the station manager wrote. "We know that your hard work and sweat, quietly given in roles that often go unnoticed, were a great source of support throughout the construction period. We sincerely thank you."
He concluded, "We will not forget the warm neighborly spirit shown by Andaz Hotel and Hyundai Department Store. We, too, will continue working with the local community to make Apgujeong Station safer and more convenient."
