Co-hosted by KDIA and KOSA
Business Matching and Networking Between Manufacturing and AI Companies

The Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) has joined forces with the Korea Artificial Intelligence and Software Industry Association (KOSA) to lower barriers to entry for artificial intelligence transformation (AX) among display materials, parts and equipment (MPE) companies and support its adoption on the factory floor.

KDIA said on October 22 that it co-hosted the "2026 AX Connect Day" with KOSA at Space Share in Seoul. The event was organized to break down the initial barriers to adopting artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the MPE industry, which consists largely of small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized companies, and to accelerate the spread of manufacturing AX. About 60 companies attended.

The event proceeded with "AX Case," which shared the benefits of AI adoption in the display MPE sector; "AX Solution," which presented ways to use data and AI; and "AX Connect," which explored ways for companies on the demand and supply sides to collaborate.

Oh Donghun, vice president of smart factory specialist Shinsung E&G, presented the results of manufacturing AX initiatives, including an AI-based predictive maintenance system and the installation of Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and real-time monitoring systems. These initiatives increased production capacity by 210% and reduced the process defect rate by 98%, while also cutting design time by 80% and lowering costs.

Kim Changkwon, senior manager at vacuum pump company Edwards Korea, shared examples of improved logistics and inventory efficiency after the company adopted an AutoStore-based automated warehouse and sensor-based autonomous guided forklifts (AGFs). The improvements included unmanned module transport and a 25% increase in storage capacity.

Wezon discussed reducing product defect rates and optimizing inventory management through its proprietary manufacturing AX platform, while Neurocle presented an AI solution that models difficult-to-identify panel defects to enable real-time inspection.

Major display MPE companies, including Donga Eltek, Top Engineering, Sungdo E&C, Ildong Chemical and LMS, took part in the subsequent business networking and matching session. Participants identified priority areas for AI adoption on the factory floor and held practical discussions on data collection and analysis, as well as developing AI adoption roadmaps tailored to individual companies.

Lee Seungwoo, vice chairman of the Korea Display Industry Association, said, "As upgrading manufacturing capabilities through AX has become a key factor in corporate competitiveness in the display industry, we hope this networking session will be the first step toward expanding manufacturing AX among small, medium-sized and mid-sized MPE companies." He added, "The association will work to boost the global competitiveness of the display industry through manufacturing AX by widening the technological gap with competing countries through AI while protecting core technologies, gaining an early foothold in new markets such as mobility and XR, and nurturing AI experts."

A KOSA official said, "For manufacturing AX to take root on the factory floor, companies need to work through the process of clearly aligning the challenges they want to address with the conditions for applying the technology." The official added, "Building on this event, we plan to strengthen cross-industry collaboration by connecting demand for AX in the display industry with the technologies of AI and software companies, and to support the practical adoption of AI at manufacturing sites."
