The vessel is equipped with an ammonia dual-fuel propulsion system, allowing it to run on either conventional marine fuel or ammonia. It is scheduled for delivery in early November after final outfitting.
The ship is 230 meters long, 36.5 meters wide and 23.6 meters high. It is equipped with four cargo tanks designed and built in-house by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and can carry ammonia and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
It also features a shaft generator that produces electricity using the propulsion engine's rotating shaft, as well as systems to reduce nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide emissions. To improve safety, the vessel is equipped with sensors that monitor ammonia leaks in real time and a system to reduce ammonia emissions.
More than 110 people attended the naming ceremony, including HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Vice Chairman Lee Sangkyun, EPS CEO Cyril Ducau and Loh Khum Yean, chairman of Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority (MPA). In April, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries also built and delivered the world's first 46,000-cubic-meter mid-sized ammonia-powered gas carrier.
