The Al Dhafra gas-fired power plant is a power infrastructure project under construction by a consortium formed by Samsung C&T and local construction company Trojan General Contracting. The project is expected to help meet rising power demand driven by the UAE's industrial development and supply essential electricity for advanced industries, including AI data centers.
At the site, Chairman Lee discussed changes in the Middle East market and strategies for securing future growth engines with senior executives from Samsung C&T and SAMSUNG E&A. Building on the trust earned through a range of plant projects, including the Barakah nuclear power plant and projects in refining, gas and petrochemicals, Samsung plans to seek opportunities to participate in future new businesses such as AI data centers and energy infrastructure.

He then met with employees from Samsung C&T and SAMSUNG E&A to hear about the difficulties they encounter while carrying out overseas projects and discuss local business issues.
In particular, given the instability in the Middle East amid recent wars and geopolitical conflicts, he repeatedly urged employees at the site to prioritize their safety. Before this visit, Chairman Lee had sent gift certificates and letters of appreciation to 730 employees of Samsung affiliates posted in nine Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Iran, as well as to their families in Korea and abroad. Employees posted overseas received gift certificates worth KRW 3 million to KRW 5 million for use locally, while family members living in Korea received KRW 2 million to KRW 3 million in Onnuri gift certificates, which can be used at traditional markets and local small businesses.
