The project is part of the company’s strategy to supply 1 GW of AI data center capacity by 2031. It aims to expand the supply of AI infrastructure in the Seoul metropolitan area and meet demand for high-density AI servers.

The Ansan AI Data Center will have a gross floor area of approximately 36,878 square meters, with two underground floors and nine above-ground floors. With a total power capacity of 50 MW, it incorporates specialized design across its power, cooling and building systems. Completion is targeted for 2029.

All server rooms are designed to support liquid cooling. Following the opening of its Gasan AI Data Center last year, KT Cloud is expanding cooling infrastructure for high-heat AI servers. The facility also adopts a high-load structural design in anticipation of introducing next-generation AI graphics processing units (GPUs), including NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin.

The facility will also use a highly efficient free-cooling system to improve cooling energy efficiency. Cooling coils will be installed on the exterior walls to harness natural airflow at the top of the building. Connected to closed-circuit cooling towers, the system will use low outdoor temperatures for cooling during transitional seasons and winter. KT Cloud said this approach can reduce the operating load on cooling tower fans and chillers and improve the efficiency of energy use for data center cooling.

“The Ansan AI Data Center is a project that incorporates power and cooling infrastructure optimized for high-density AI servers, along with next-generation design technologies,” said Kim Bongkyun, CEO of KT Cloud. “Drawing on our accumulated experience in data center construction and operation, as well as our in-house technical capabilities, we will provide stable and efficient AI infrastructure and actively respond to our customers’ diverse technical requirements.”
