The commission drew up the proposal after announcing plans to expand the eligible sectors in its second-half work report in July and gathering opinions from relevant government agencies.
The National Growth Fund currently supports 12 high-tech strategic industries: semiconductors, secondary batteries, displays, biotechnology, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), vaccines, future mobility, hydrogen, content, and critical minerals. Under the proposed revision, the aerospace industry, including satellites, the lunar economy, launch vehicles, and civilian aircraft, as well as the quantum industry, including quantum computing, quantum cryptography communications, and quantum sensing, will be added as new eligible sectors.
The Financial Services Commission said it decided to add these industries to the eligible sectors, considering their high strategic importance to the country and their need for large-scale, long-term investment.
Comments on the proposed revision may be submitted to the Financial Services Commission's National Growth Fund Division from today through December 1.
