From Question-Based Teaching to AI-Assisted Automated Grading... Exploring Innovation in Elementary Classrooms
Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education to Hold the “2026 Elementary Teaching and Assessment Innovation Conference” on October 28
A forum will be held to explore ways to innovate teaching and assessment in elementary school classrooms and promote question- and inquiry-based learning.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on October 22 that it will hold the “2026 Elementary Teaching and Assessment Innovation Conference” on October 28 at the Peace&Park Convention in Yongsan for approximately 300 elementary school teachers and education professionals.
The event will explore ways to connect teaching and assessment by incorporating a range of perspectives, including neuroscience-based approaches to understanding learning and AI-assisted automated grading. In particular, it will focus on sharing research by experts from external institutions alongside practical examples from schools, enhancing teachers’ expertise and leadership, and supporting change in actual classrooms.
In the keynote address, Professor Lee Ina of Seoul National University’s Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences will speak on “How Do Students’ Brains Learn and Remember in the Age of AI?” The address will examine the direction teaching and learning should take in the age of AI, based on an understanding of how students learn and remember.
The following sessions will cover ▲changing student response patterns and ways to communicate ▲strengthening student agency through student questions ▲research into Seoul’s question- and inquiry-based teaching model ▲directions for written and essay-based assessment and AI-assisted automated grading.
Researchers and teachers will share practical examples and future directions for teaching and assessment, and discuss approaches that can be applied in schools.
