HD Hyundai Robotics Unveils 'Intelligent Dual-Arm Robot' That Moves Its Five Fingers Like a Human
Moves beyond conventional industrial robots confined to designated areas and limited to standardized tasks
Performs precise tasks, grasping and moving objects just like a person
HD Hyundai Robotics, HD Hyundai's robotics solutions specialist, announced on the 21st that it had unveiled its in-development “intelligent dual-arm robot” at the Future Innovation Tech Expo 2026 (FIX 2026), which opened at EXCO in Daegu.

View original imageThe intelligent dual-arm robot is based on physical artificial intelligence (AI) and has a structure resembling the human upper body, with two arms and five fingers. HD Hyundai Robotics has been developing the robot to overcome the structural limitations of conventional industrial robots, which have been confined to designated areas and repeatedly performed only standardized tasks.
HD Hyundai Robotics' intelligent dual-arm robot adopts an upper-body structure focused on the work capabilities of its arms and hands. Each arm has a payload capacity of 7 kg and a working radius of 630 mm. The robot also features five-fingered hands like those of a human, enabling it to perform precise tasks, such as grasping and moving objects in the same way a person would.
In collaboration with Aidin Robotics, in which it invested in September this year, HD Hyundai Robotics has advanced its force and tactile sensor technology so the robot can detect objects with greater precision.
The robot's mobility will also be expanded in stages. HD Hyundai Robotics plans to first equip it with a wheeled mobile platform and later develop two-legged walking technology.
The intelligent dual-arm robot is equipped with a robot foundation model developed in-house by HD Hyundai Robotics, enabling it to recognize its surroundings and independently generate movements suited to the situation. This allows it to adapt flexibly to a variety of work environments without requiring operators to program every step and position individually.
HD Hyundai Robotics plans to first deploy the intelligent dual-arm robot in bundling and assembly processes, then expand its use to various manufacturing settings, including welding and painting. The company also plans to apply the work intelligence developed through these efforts to its existing industrial and collaborative robot product lines, further expanding automation across manufacturing sites.
