Gwangju Special City to review company requests and incorporate them into industrial complex development plans
Samsung Electronics, which is pursuing plans to build a semiconductor cluster on the site of the Gwangju military airbase, asked Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City to provide an international school, roads with at least eight lanes, and facilities to reuse treated wastewater.
According to Gwangju Special City on October 21, a city delegation visited Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek Campus the previous day, toured its semiconductor production lines, and discussed infrastructure needed to develop the industrial complex.

In education, the company proposed establishing an international school and schools for foreign residents, citing strong interest among its employees. In transportation, it said roads with at least eight lanes were needed around the industrial complex, given the number of people working at the semiconductor plant and the traffic generated by transporting products and materials. In water supply, it asked the city to secure facilities for reusing treated wastewater, as semiconductor production requires large volumes of water.
Gwangju Special City will review Samsung Electronics' requests and incorporate them into its plans for infrastructure at the semiconductor industrial complex.
