Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital Completes Voice-Based Medical Record Automation with Generative AI
Technical collaboration with "Puzzle-AI"
Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has introduced an automated medical-record system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to organize and enter the vast amount of clinical information generated during cancer patient care.
Medical staff at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital use the nursing records system while scanning a barcode on a patient's wrist with a mobile device. Provided by Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital.

The system was developed in collaboration with Puzzle-AI, a company specializing in medical AI. When medical staff dictate clinical or nursing observations at a patient's side, generative AI summarizes and organizes them into documents in the appropriate clinical format, and an AI agent automatically enters them into the existing electronic medical record (EMR) system.
The physician-facing system, called "Voice EMR," converts spoken descriptions of a patient's symptoms, examination findings, diagnosis, and future treatment plan into structured medical records and enters them into the EMR.
The mobile-based "Voice ENR," deployed in nursing settings, allows nurses to record vital signs and notes on a patient's condition by voice. In particular, AI automatically summarizes nursing notes in a format tailored to the need, such as bullet points, narrative prose, or a structured form.
The hospital expects that substantially reducing repetitive, exhausting handwritten documentation and computer data-entry work centered on mouse clicks will improve the quality of care and create an environment in which medical staff can engage more fully with patients.
