Lotte Construction's Magok Complex Le West Wins Bronze at the 'Good Design Awards'
Buildings with different uses unified by a shared color scheme
Three designs, including the "Lake of Birch" garden, also receive the GD mark
Lotte Construction said on October 21 that the exterior design of Le West, a MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) complex in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, won a bronze prize at the 2026 Good Design Awards, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Le West is a complex with exhibition facilities, a hotel, residential facilities and office space. Across four blocks, it houses COEX Magok, Mercure Seoul Magok Hotel, the Lotte Castle Le West officetel complex, VL Le West senior living facilities, and office and commercial facilities.

Non-residential facilities, including the exhibition center and hotel, feature prominent horizontal lines. Residential buildings use repeated vertical lines. Beige, gray and blue tones are used throughout the complex. The design gives each building its own character while making the buildings work together as a unified complex.
The block with COEX Magok and the hotel features a large video screen installed on a structure that extends outward from the buildings. Transparent glass exterior walls also create a sense of openness. The officetel buildings emphasize vertical lines with gray and beige brick tiles. VL Le West features finishes that resemble vertical stone panels and glass exterior walls.
A garden, an artwork and community facilities were also selected for their outstanding design. Three offerings received the GD (Good Design) mark: the Lake of Birch garden at Lotte Castle Signature in Wonju, the Stardust artwork at Cheongdam Le El, and the community facilities at VL Le West.
Lake of Birch is a garden designed around the theme of a birch forest. It features Lotte Construction's landscaping brand, Green by Groove. Stardust is an artwork depicting stars cascading from space. The surrounding area has a space to relax over tea and water features. It is designed so residents can admire the artwork reflected on the water. The VL Le West community facilities provide a space for residents to manage their health, enjoy cultural and leisure activities, and connect with their neighbors.
The Good Design Awards are hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. Launched in 1985, the awards are now in their 42nd year. Products are evaluated on factors including appearance, functionality and economic value, and outstanding products receive the GD mark. The highest-rated entries are presented with awards.
