'2028 LA Olympics' Boom... KOTRA Supports Entry into U.S. Public Works Market
Online briefing to be held on the 28th of this month
The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) will provide comprehensive support to help companies enter the U.S. market, where major public works projects are underway ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
KOTRA said on Oct. 21 that it will hold an online briefing on Oct. 28 for domestic companies interested in entering the U.S. public works market. The briefing will focus on strategies for tapping opportunities related to the Los Angeles Olympics.
The Los Angeles Board of Public Works, which oversees the city’s public works projects, and the Asia-Pacific Consortium (PACE), which operates the city’s procurement program and supports companies seeking to enter the market, will participate as speakers and share practical information.
The United States is a major market, with total construction spending of $2.24 trillion. Among U.S. markets, Los Angeles, California, is making every effort to prepare for the 2028 Olympics. To make the Games “No-Car Olympics,” the city is pursuing projects to improve public transportation infrastructure, build major cultural facilities and improve the urban environment, and develop e-government and online sports management services.
KOTRA plans to address barriers to market entry, including complex permitting procedures and a lack of information. It also plans to provide companies with no experience in the U.S. public works market opportunities to build partnerships with local Korean-American companies qualified to supply goods and services for U.S. public works projects.
Steve Kang, chair of the Los Angeles Board of Public Works, said, “Ahead of the 2028 Olympics, Los Angeles is pursuing a range of projects to improve urban infrastructure and strengthen public services. We hope Korean companies with outstanding technological capabilities and experience will actively explore public procurement opportunities with the city and expand their partnerships with local businesses.”
