Hwaseong City, led by Mayor Jeong Myeonggeun, said on Oct. 21 that it had operated a group pavilion featuring six local companies at the 2026 Hanoi Machinery Exhibition (MTA Hanoi 2026), held from Oct. 13 to 18 at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC) in Hanoi.

Now in its 11th year, the exhibition is the largest precision machinery and manufacturing trade show in northern Vietnam. Exhibits included cutting tools, metalworking machinery, molds, measuring equipment and manufacturing facilities.

Building on its experience at the Ho Chi Minh City MTA exhibition, which it had attended for four consecutive years since 2022, the city set up a group pavilion at the Hanoi exhibition for the first time this year. It supported participating companies with booth rental and setup costs, the shipment of exhibits and interpretation services. The Hwaseong City Export Business Support Center helped companies with consultations by identifying local buyers in advance.

"Demand for equipment in the north, where suppliers to Korean companies are concentrated, was much higher than expected," said Do Seongjin, CEO of Brand New Machinery. "Thanks to the city's group pavilion, we were able to discuss specifications and delivery schedules with buyers in detail. We will make sure to turn these discussions into contracts."

"Vietnam's industrial structure differs between the south and the north, so it is a market that must be approached region by region," said Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeonggeun. "We will build on the progress made in Ho Chi Minh City and extend it to Hanoi, providing continued support so local companies can expand their sales channels across Vietnam."

Hwaseong City plans to help small and medium-sized enterprises diversify their overseas sales channels by supporting participation in overseas trade shows, dispatching market development teams and holding domestic export consultation events.
