Hanam City Aids Foreign Residents with Vehicle Registration... 15 Forms in Five Languages Available
Available in English, Chinese, Vietnamese and other languages
Reducing form-filling errors and the need to redo paperwork
Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province, led by Mayor Lee Hyun-jae, said Tuesday that it had placed 15 types of civil service forms in five languages at the Vehicle Registration Division's service center to make vehicle registration services more convenient for foreign residents.
The forms are available in English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Uzbek. They include eight forms related to automobiles, such as an application for new vehicle registration; four related to motorcycles, such as a motorcycle operation report; and three related to construction machinery, such as an application for issuance of a construction machinery operator's license.
As of the end of September, 2,529 foreign nationals were registered in Hanam City. The need for guidance in foreign languages is growing as more foreign nationals visit from neighboring cities and counties to handle vehicle registration services.
The city prepared the forms in foreign languages to reduce the inconvenience faced by foreign residents who have difficulty understanding Korean forms and may fill them out incorrectly or have to complete them again. Based on verified standard translations, the forms allow residents to check and fill in the information they need.
