The export was carried out through Gyeonggi-do Business Corporation's program supporting overseas offline sales channels. Gyeonggi-do Business Corporation and Yeoncheon County worked together to secure U.S. distribution channels, and will supply 1,000 bags weighing 4 kg each, for a total of 4 metric tons, to Hanyang Mart's New York and New Jersey branches. Yeonjin is a new rice variety whose name conveys the meaning "the precious taste of Yeoncheon."
The two organizations plan to expand consumer reach by securing new distribution channels in the United States and promoting the rice locally. They will also pursue additional exports depending on sales trends.
A Gyeonggi-do Business Corporation official said, "We hope this export will help expand overseas sales channels for local agricultural products and increase sales for participating companies. We will work with local governments to support the overseas expansion of companies in the province and local specialty products."
