Needer's 'Geupgu' Sees Part-Time Job Openings Rise 53% YoY for Ultra-Short-Term Work
Total wage transaction value over the past year also rose 91%
Annual transaction value on track to top 20 billion won
Needer, which operates Geupgu, a real-time short-term job matching platform, said on Oct. 20 that the number of part-time job openings posted on the platform rose 53% from the same period last year, while the value of wage transactions made through the Geupgu application increased 91%.
Monthly growth has also been marked. The number of job openings posted on Geupgu in September rose 22% from August, bringing the average monthly growth rate to the 12% range. The company said this reflects the spread of a hiring model in which businesses recruit workers for the hours they need across a variety of sectors, including food service and beverage, retail and sales, and transportation and logistics, rather than demand being limited to specific peak seasons.
Accordingly, Geupgu's total transaction value over the past 12 months also increased 91% from the same period last year, and the platform is on track to surpass 20 billion won in transaction value this year. As transaction value has grown faster than the number of job openings, the transaction value per job has also increased.
Geupgu connects businesses seeking to hire workers when they need them with job seekers who want to choose work that fits their schedules. Users can apply for jobs without a resume or a separate interview, and after hiring, the service handles attendance verification, employment contracts, and wage payments and settlements all in one place. In particular, its easy payment service for businesses and prompt wage payments after work is completed help reduce the inconvenience of short-term hiring and build trust in transactions.

Shin Hyunsik, CEO of Needer, said, "Businesses that have difficulty hiring long-term employees are increasingly securing workers immediately when they need them, while job seekers are quickly adopting the practice of choosing work that fits their schedules. We will use the data accumulated on Geupgu to improve hiring speed and on-site operating efficiency and grow into standard infrastructure for the ultra-short-term job market."
