Hongcheon County Governor Shin Youngjae announced on October 20 that an opening ceremony for Cheongaramchae, a shared housing facility for the county's youth village, will be held at 11 a.m. on October 21 at 1092 Pungam-ri, Seoseok-myeon.

Cheongaramchae means "a warm home in Aram Village where young people live together." From 2023 through this year, the county invested a total of 2.2 billion won to build the facility, which has two floors above ground and a total floor area of 640.30 square meters. It includes 10 housing units for young people, as well as a meeting room and shared kitchen for residents.

The county announced the results of its resident selection process on October 19, confirming 10 residents and four people on the waiting list. Residents will sign contracts from October 26 to 30 and move in within 30 days of their contract date.

The rental terms are a 1 million won deposit and monthly rent of 100,000 won. Residents must pay management fees and individual utility bills separately. The initial rental period is two years. Residents who continue to meet the eligibility requirements may renew their leases twice, in two-year increments, and stay for up to six years. To be eligible, all members of a household must be young people aged 18 to 45, and none may own a home in their name.

About 100 people are expected to attend the opening ceremony, including Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Governor Woo Sangho, Hongcheon County Council Chair Jeong Gwankyo, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Council Vice Chair Hong Seonggi, local residents, and representatives of youth organizations. The program will include a pre-ceremony performance, a report on the project's progress, the presentation of commendations and plaques of appreciation, congratulatory remarks and speeches, comments from a residents' representative, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a tour of the facility.

"I hope Cheongaramchae will become a warm home where young people can put down roots in Hongcheon and pursue their dreams," Hongcheon County Governor Shin Youngjae said. "We will develop it into a model for helping young people settle in the area, where they can live in harmony with local residents."

The county plans to continue managing and operating the facility after residents move in, including checking on their living conditions at least once a year.
