Cashwalk: "Women in Their 40s Have the Lowest Step Count"
2,155 fewer steps than men in the same age group
Women in their 40s had the lowest average daily step count among men and women in their 40s through 70s.
Nudge Healthcare announced the results of an analysis of Cashwalk user data on October 20, marking World Osteoporosis Day.
According to Nudge Healthcare's analysis, the average daily step counts for female users in their 40s through 70s were 5,541 steps for those in their 40s, 6,094 for those in their 50s, 6,674 for those in their 60s, and 6,750 for those in their 70s. In particular, women in their 40s walked 2,155 fewer steps than men in the same age group.
A difference was also found in the share of users recording at least 7,000 steps a day. Among female users in their 40s, 24.1% recorded at least 7,000 steps a day, about half the rate for men in the same age group (48.5%). The shares of women recording at least 7,000 steps were 32.2% for those in their 50s, 40.5% for those in their 60s, and 41.5% for those in their 70s.
Nudge Healthcare said that 7,000 steps had been presented as a realistic daily target because of its clear health benefits. A meta-analysis published in the international journal The Lancet Public Health in 2025 found that people who took 7,000 steps a day had a 47% lower risk of death than those who took 2,000.
