The event was held from October 17 to 18 for one night and two days at Sono Pet Club & Resort Vivaldi Park in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province. It drew around 20 people, including families hoping to adopt and families whose adoptions had been confirmed, selected through a recruitment process that began in May this year.
The event was organized to help retired quarantine detection dogs that had dedicated themselves to national quarantine begin new lives in homes, and to promote a responsible pet adoption culture by giving prospective adoptive families ample opportunity to bond with the dogs in advance. It was also significant as a public-private partnership model in which a public institution and Sono Trinity Group joined forces.
Over the two-day, one-night program, participating families took part in various activities, including an introduction to the role of quarantine detection dogs and the adoption system, rotation-based bonding sessions with individual dogs, walking and massage training with professional trainers from Sono Pet, a field day and treasure hunt with the detection dogs, and one-on-one customized evening walks. In addition, the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency provided one-on-one adoption consultations and guidance on follow-up procedures at the venue, helping participants make considered adoption decisions.
Sono Pet Club & Resort Vivaldi Park, where the event was held, is a multipurpose cultural space equipped with specialized facilities, including pet-only rooms, pet-friendly dining outlets, and a natural grass exercise field. Participating families and retired detection dogs enjoyed time bonding without restrictions, using dedicated spaces designed for safety and professional training facilities.
