Genesis Points Leader Shin Sanghun: "I'll Build on This Momentum and Go for the Win"
Competes in the Genesis Championship, Korea's largest international professional golf tournament
Enters as the KPGA Tour's No. 1 player in Genesis Points
One win this year and four consecutive top-10 finishes lately
Shin Sanghun is targeting a victory in a marquee event.
He will compete in the Genesis Championship, which runs for four days from October 22 at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. The tournament is jointly organized by the DP World Tour and the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour. With a total purse of $4 million (approximately KRW 5.3 billion) and a winner's prize of $680,000 (approximately KRW 900 million), it is the largest international professional golf tournament in Korea. The winner will receive a Genesis vehicle and tour cards for the 2027 and 2028 seasons on both the KPGA Tour and the DP World Tour. The win could be an important step toward competing on the international stage.
Thirty-six KPGA Tour players will compete. The 36 players at the top of the Genesis Points standings earned spots in the field, with the standings finalized after The Charity Classic, which concluded on October 18 at Seowon Valley Country Club in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. Kim Seong-hyun, ranked 17th in Genesis Points, and Kim Baek-jun, ranked 36th, withdrew, giving Eom Jae-ung, ranked 37th, and Kim Woo-hyun, ranked 38th, the last two spots in the field.
