Hanul Semiconductor’s Small-Scale Share Offering Succeeds Despite Market Plunge; Subscription Ratio Hits 5.24 to 1
Hanul Semiconductor is securing about 2 billion won in working capital after attracting strong demand for its small-scale public offering of new shares, despite a sharp correction in South Korea’s stock market and weakening investor sentiment. Subscriptions exceeded five times the planned offering amount, underscoring market interest.
Hanul Semiconductor said on October 19 that subscriptions for its small-scale public offering of new shares worth about 2 billion won recorded a subscription ratio of 5.24 to 1. A total of 1,276,705 shares were subscribed for during the two-day subscription period that began on October 15, with subscription funds totaling 10,481,748,050 won. That was more than five times the planned offering amount of 2 billion won.
The offering drew attention because it took place amid a recent sharp decline in South Korea’s stock market. On October 15, the first day of subscriptions, the KOSPI fell below 6,000 and the KOSDAQ dropped below 800. Sell-sidecars and circuit breakers were triggered in succession in both markets.
Hanul Semiconductor said the strong subscription demand, which greatly exceeded the offering amount despite market uncertainty, reflected investor interest in the company’s established business foundation and growth potential.
The company plans to issue 243,605 new shares at 8,210 won per share. As the offering was oversubscribed, the company will proceed with the final allocation and refunds in accordance with the relevant procedures and allocation criteria. Payment is due on October 20, and the new shares are scheduled to be listed on November 4.
All proceeds will be used for working capital. Hanul Semiconductor plans to use the funds to improve the stability of its business operations and strengthen the competitiveness of its existing businesses.
The company focuses on equipment used in the manufacturing and inspection processes for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). As demand for high-performance MLCCs grows alongside the expansion of high-growth industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), automotive electronics and robotics, the company is also working to strengthen the technological competitiveness of its related equipment.
