In particular, in conjunction with the “2027 Year of Visiting Hamyang,” the county plans to offer hands-on activities and performances for tourists, in addition to selling dried persimmons.
The county and the festival committee plan to sell Gojongsi dried persimmons produced by local farms at the festival venue and organize activities that will allow visitors to take part in a variety of experiences related to dried persimmons.
They also plan to develop operating plans that link the festival with local tourist attractions, including Sangnim Park, so visitors can explore Hamyang’s winter destinations as well.
The plan is to expand sales channels for local agricultural specialties and encourage festival visitors to spend money in the area.
Park Hyogi, chair of the Hamyang Gojongsi Dried Persimmon Festival Committee, said, “As the festival is being held in conjunction with the 2027 Year of Visiting Hamyang, we will prepare an event that promotes Gojongsi dried persimmons and gives visitors a chance to enjoy themselves together.”
Hamyang Gojongsi dried persimmons are a local specialty whose name is said to derive from the story that King Gojong of the Joseon Dynasty highly praised their taste.
Hamyang County plans to work with the festival committee to draw up detailed programs and event operating plans.
