Usable across six commercial districts and other areas
Unified BI for "Seoul Dalbit Yajang" unveiled for the first time
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on October 19 that it will issue KRW 10 billion worth of “Dalbit Gift Certificates” to boost the nighttime economy. The city is working to develop “Seoul Dalbit Yajang,” which brings together local food and culture.
The Dalbit Gift Certificates can be used at all six commercial districts participating in Seoul Dalbit Yajang. They can also be used at Seoul Love Gift Certificate-affiliated stores in the six administrative neighborhoods where those districts are located. The eligible areas are Hwayang-dong in Gwangjin-gu, Sangbong 2-dong in Jungnang-gu, Chang 4-dong in Dobong-gu, Sadang 1-dong in Dongjak-gu, Namhyeon-dong in Gwanak-gu, and Sinsa-dong in Gangnam-gu.
Each person may purchase up to KRW 500,000 per month and hold up to KRW 1.5 million in total. The certificates are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Purchases can be canceled in full if the certificates are unused, and any remaining balance can be refunded, excluding the discount subsidy, if at least 60% of the purchase amount has been spent.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to issue the Dalbit Gift Certificates at a discount to ease the financial burden on residents while encouraging them to visit Seoul Dalbit Yajang and spend there. The city expects the increased foot traffic generated by the certificates to extend to nearby neighborhood commercial districts, spreading nighttime spending to surrounding areas.
To coincide with the issuance of the Dalbit Gift Certificates, the city has also unveiled a new unified brand identity (BI) for Seoul Dalbit Yajang. The aim is to connect six night-market districts, each with its own distinctive local character, under a single brand and make it easier for residents to recognize and visit Seoul Dalbit Yajang. The newly developed BI will first be applied to stickers certifying participating Dalbit Gift Certificate merchants, and the city plans to use it consistently in signage, promotions, and facilities when operating the night markets in the future.
The Seoul Dalbit Yajang BI depicts small lights gathering in the dark to form a single moon. It represents the commercial districts and people across Seoul coming together to create Seoul Dalbit Yajang. The city plans to use the BI to preserve the unique appeal of each district while raising awareness of Seoul Dalbit Yajang and creating a unified identity.
