BYD Makes First Overseas Move for Flash Charging in Indonesia, Launches Two New Denza Models
Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD is moving to build infrastructure for its ultra-fast "Flash Charging" technology in Indonesia. It is also launching two new models from its premium brand Denza, equipped with second-generation Blade Batteries, to strengthen its presence in the local eco-friendly vehicle market.
BYD announced on October 19 that it had unveiled plans to build a Flash Charging network in Indonesia on October 14 and officially launched the new Denza D9 and Z9GT. The company aims to combine Flash Charging technology with dedicated infrastructure to offer a fast and convenient charging experience, much like refueling at a gas station.
Indonesia is the first overseas market where BYD is building Flash Charging infrastructure.
The Flash Chargers are equipped with energy storage systems (ESS) and feature a T-shaped suspended design that BYD describes as the world's first. They also include so-called "Zero Gravity" chargers, which reduce the weight of charging cables, and Plug & Charge functionality to make charging more convenient.
BYD Indonesia plans to initially install chargers at 10 Denza showrooms so consumers can try them firsthand. Starting at the end of the year, the company plans to expand the network into public charging infrastructure and make it accessible to more users.
Also unveiled that day, the Denza D9 is a luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and the first model to feature both a second-generation Blade Battery and Flash Charging technology. Its battery technology enhances driving performance, range and ride comfort, and the vehicle is aimed at business and family travel needs.
The Denza Z9GT is a luxury all-electric grand tourer (GT) that reflects the brand's technology-driven design philosophy. Built on the e3 platform, it combines driving performance and handling with intelligent driving control technology. BYD plans to expand Denza's lineup in Indonesia's premium eco-friendly vehicle market, led by the two models.
