The meeting focused on key questions selected by the association. Residents shared their views, while the city provided updates on the progress of individual projects and its plans going forward.
Key agenda items included extending Subway Line 3 to Paju, developing a landmark near the GTX station, adding buses and establishing new routes to improve transfers at Unjeong Jungang Station, and plans for using a site designated for a multipurpose community facility. Participants also discussed plans for Chosun University Hospital in the Paju Medical Cluster, construction of a library in Unjeong New Town, and the Unjeong Lake Park fireworks festival.
The city said it plans to seek the inclusion of the extension of Subway Line 3 to Paju, a long-standing wish of residents, in the Fifth National Rail Network Development Plan. It will also develop specific plans for putting the project into action through a strategy development study.
The city also shared preparations for the Unjeong Lake Park fireworks festival, which will be held on October 31. This year, the program is expected to heighten the excitement of the event with a short, concentrated fireworks display and drones forming the shape of a firebird.
Association Chair Lee Seungcheol said, "I hope this meeting will give us an opportunity to exchange a range of views on the development of Unjeong New Town and produce positive results. I also hope that regular meetings will be held twice a year to continue communication."
The city plans to make the meetings a regular event, share updates on key issues with residents, and continue following up on their requests.
