Solus Advanced Materials: "Profitability Improvement to Gain Momentum with Price Hike"
Solus Advanced Materials is expected to improve profitability after raising the average selling price of battery copper foil.
Solus Advanced Materials said on October 19 that it had raised the average selling price of battery copper foil by more than 50% quarter over quarter for the fourth quarter of 2026 for major global customers.
The company raised prices as supply and demand conditions in the global battery copper foil market changed. It said supply of battery copper foil, a type of copper foil used in secondary batteries, was becoming unstable as rising demand for energy storage systems (ESS) driven by the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers coincided with U.S. policies to reduce reliance on China in supply chains.
Solus Advanced Materials expects the price increase to mark an important turning point in improving the profitability structure of its battery copper foil business. The company forecasts that profitability will improve rapidly as the effects of the price increase, which will be reflected in full starting in the fourth quarter of 2026, are combined with increased production and improved production efficiency.
Based on this trend of improving profitability, the company expects its battery copper foil business to turn profitable on a quarterly EBITDA basis early next year, followed by a quarterly operating profit (EBIT) turnaround during 2027.
