CU's "Truffle Jamon Stick" Tops Snack Sales, Surpassing Potato Chips
Cumulative sales of the three Truffle Jamon products top 1.5 million units
Popularity remains so strong that stores are limiting order quantities
BGF Retail's convenience store chain CU said on October 18 that Truffle Jamon Stick ranked first in snack sales from October 1 to 15. The new product, launched last month, surpassed established bestsellers after gaining popularity through word of mouth.
CU launched Truffle Jamon Kkang and Truffle Jamon Chip in July, followed by Truffle Jamon Stick last month. Cumulative sales of the three products in the series exceeded 1.5 million units as of October 15. Sales in the first half of this month were more than double the total for September.
As sales surged, CU began limiting order quantities for all three products at each store. The series also ranked third among real-time popular search terms on CU's own shopping app, Pocket CU. Buoyed by the series' strong sales, CU's differentiated snack sales from October 1 to 15 rose 82.3% from the same period last year.

The Truffle Jamon series features products made with Italian black truffles and Spanish jamon. The products combine the salty, savory flavor of jamon with the aroma of truffles. The product manager and a partner company took note of the popularity of truffle-and-jamon-flavored biscuits and developed the snacks. Each product has a distinct texture or shape, including a crisp texture, a light texture, or an elongated stick shape.
